Nintendo’s Taiwanese subsidiary company; Nintendo Phuten will close down at the end of May, and the employees will leave the company by the end of this month. This piece of news was deciphered by a user on NeoGaf
This might not be a big deal to a lot of people, but the news of people in our industry losing their jobs is a huge bummer no matter which part of the world they are in. Nintendo Phuten is a lesser known subsidiary of Nintendo as all they do is ensure the sales of Nintendo products in Taiwan. Nintendo business in Taiwan will now be overseen by Nintendo Hong Kong.
As we can guess, Nintendo’s failure to sell the Wii U is looked at as a primary cause of their latest victim of their low finances because of their system. Nintendo suffered a loss of $15 million for the nine month period ending Dec. 31, 2013 because of the Wii U’s lack of sales.
